Certified 5th Grade Teacher- Special Ed/Elem. Ed.
I am a dedicated 5th grade teacher in Franklin Township Public Schools. I have been working at Sampson G. Smith Intermediate School for the passed 6 years! I love every minute of teaching 5th grade students... especially their exuberance and energy to learn new things! Currently, I teach 2 sections of Literacy and Social Studies in an Inclusion setting. That means that I have approximately 25 students, and that general education students and students with special needs are grouped together...
ADD/ADHD
With my 6 years of teaching in resource and inclusion settings, I have serviced multiple students with ADD/ADHD. I understand their need for refocusing and breaks/interruptions in order to best learn material. I know that these students may need support in many areas due to inattentiveness, and will provide that to them.
Aspergers
With my 6 years of teaching in resource and inclusion settings, I have serviced multiple students with Asperger's Syndrome. I know these students may have academic challenges, as well as social, and will assist the student with developing both of these needs. I will provide appropriate social iterations as well as assist with academic challenges/enhancements in my tutoring sessions.
autism
With my 6 years of teaching in resource and inclusion settings, I have serviced multiple students with Autism. I have also worked for New Horizons in Autism, where I received an ABA certificate, as well as crisis management. I assisted with taking students to extra curricular activities, as well as working on social skills.
